AUSTIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE IS OFFERING A COURSE ON BEING YOUR OWN BUILDER If you have ever considered building your own home or hiring a contractor to build your dream home, you should definitely attend this course. The information contained in this course will give you the knowledge and confidence to be your own builder or help you manage your general contractor. The following is just a partial list of the topics to be covered: 1. Obtaining Financing, Construction Loans, Draw Schedules 2. Site Selection, Engineering 3. Plan Design, Energy Efficiency, Cost Breakdowns 4. Project Management, Building Steps, Construction Calendars 5. Permits, Surveys, Inspections 6. Dealing with Subcontractors, Suppliers, Bids, Discounts 7. Presentations by the Pros on the various phases of building. This course is offered through Austin Community College Continuing Education Program. The class will be held at the Highland Business Center Campus at 5930 Middle Fiskville Rd.
